This tiny flower is easy to miss, but if you’re lucky enough to find it. The Hammer Orchid’s design (named for its self-healing ability) is intended to attract wasps for pollination. In fact, the flower secretes a pheromone similar to that of the female wasp, attracting unsuspecting males to land in its dark purple environment. When the wasp lands, the labellum moves back into the pollen sac, pushing the wasp into the pollen and successfully breeding its species.
