Amorphophallus titanum is the Holy Grail of the plant kingdom. For those new to the titan arum, Amorphophallus titanum has the largest inflorescence in the world… up to 8′ tall.

The giant red vase, with its equally large centerpiece, is truly one of the most fragrant wonders of the horticultural world. The huge leaf atop has a spotted stalk that can be up to 15′ long that emerges after the flower blooms. The seed stalk grows up to 6′ tall and contains large red berries that are equally incredible. It can go dormant just once every 2-3 years and as a rule, Amorphophallus titanum likes it hot!

Amorphophallus Titanum: is the flower that was recorded by the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest flower in the world in 2010 at the Winnipesaukee orchid garden in Gilford, New Hampshire, USA when the flower reached a height of 3.1m.

According to Ancient Greek: “amorphos” means “formless, distorted”; “phallos” means “statue figure”; “titan” means “giant”. This is a cluster of flowers with many small flowers sticking together (like pineapple – pineapple) rather than an independent flower.

Flowers Amorphophallus Titanum live mainly in the tropical garden of Sumatra (Indonesia). The locals call it with an equally unique name: Bunga bangkai, meaning Corpse Tree, corpse flower (Bunga – flower; bangkai – corpse).

On average, Amorphophallus Titanum usually has a height of more than 2m, a weight of 50 – 70kg and a lifespan of about 30 to 40 years. This flower only blooms once every 3-4 years, each bloom lasts about 3-4 days.
